Our Story
In 2017, we embarked on a five-year journey across Australia, immersing ourselves in its vast landscapes and culinary wonders. This travel experience gave us the time and space to focus on our shared passion for cooking, while also deepening our understanding of the intricate connection between food, health, community, and the planet.
Our ethos centres around the belief that food goes beyond mere nourishment—it is a catalyst for cultivating a healthy and vibrant lifestyle, fostering strong communities, and building a sustainable future. That’s why we take great pride in sourcing our ingredients straight from local producers and farmers right here on The Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. We love organic produce, ethically raised meats, gardening, spending time outdoors and gathering our loved ones around the dinner table. It was during one such gathering, as we savoured the delightful flavours and relished the sense of togetherness, that the name “The Slow Food Kitchen” was born. Inspired by the concept of slow food—a movement that embraces quality, sustainability, and the pleasures of shared meals—we realised that it perfectly encapsulated our values and aspirations. The name became a symbol of our commitment to mindful cooking, honouring the ingredients we sourced, and savouring every moment of the culinary journey.
